In the digital age, online scams take many different forms. Not only do you need to know how to spot scams, but you also need to know how to protect yourself from them. In an effort to keep your personal information secure online, we recommend.
- If you receive a suspicious email or text message, do NOT respond, do NOT click any links, and do NOT open attachments.
- Do not sign on to your account from a link in a suspicious message.
- Know that if Village Bank calls you about a suspicious transaction, we will not ask for your card PIN, access code, or your online banking password. If you are uncomfortable about a request for information, hang up and call our customer care team or the number on the back of your debit or credit card to verify the request.
- Create a unique password for your email account and don’t share it with anyone. If scammers gain access to your email account, they may be able to reset your passwords for other websites and lock you out.
